A Team Science training and practical experience for faculty researchers and those who support them from around Florida.
With funding from NSF’s Germination program, members from FL-RDA led and participated in a training experience to benefit both faculty researchers and also RD and RA professionals. The program had the overarching goal to fill gaps in support, tools, and collaborative connections across the state of Florida. This was accomplished through a teaming and ideation initiative, forming faculty into small interdisciplinary and inter-institutional groups with the support of an RD/RA “Team Science Coach.”
Both faculty and coaches explored how to identify and tap their collaborative potential and target a pressing complex problem. They used guidance from the field of Team Science to facilitate activities and discussions, ultimately presenting on a new project idea at the completion of the program. Teams have since proceeded to craft and submit grant proposals and manuscripts for publications.
Success in this project will provide a model and tools for replication and scaling by states and other sizable networks focused on addressing major societal challenges.
