We are currently recruiting a small cohort of RD and RA professionals interested in learning more about Team Science.

Your Role:

You will receive mentorship and resources related to serving as a “Coach” for a newly-formed group of faculty researchers. You will support this group to develop an interdisciplinary idea around a major societal challenge.

Benefits to Participants:

  • Engage in a guided, hands-on mentoring experience in how to lead interdisciplinary research teams
  • Expand your toolbox–gain access to tools and other resources informed by Team Science that can be used to the benefit of faculty at your home institution
  • Grow your professional network and connections with RD and RA staff across the state

Program Commitment:

  • Must be willing to support a team with members from various Florida colleges and universities. (We cannot guarantee any members on your team will be from your home institution.)
  • Attend a half-day, virtual “Research Summit” teaming event on Friday, January 26, 2024, tentatively scheduled for 12:00-3:30pm ET (Note: Access to a webcam and microphone is required for participation in this virtual program.)
  • Guide a faculty team through an online “Idea Sprint” experience with weekly team meetings and idea development activities over 2 months, including eight weeks from February 5 through March 29, 2024 (We understand this period overlaps with Spring Break, which will be handled via scheduling within each team.)
  • Attend coaching meetings to learn how to support your team with Team Science activities and resources. Additionally, dedicate time between these coaching meetings to read assigned activity instructions and prepare to be an activity guide for your team.
  • Support your team as they present their ideas in a virtual “Research Symposium” in early April 2024. (Scheduling for this event will be determined based on availability of program participants.)
  • Provide feedback on and reactions to the program to help with program improvement and advance the field of Team Science. (Note: Information collected through surveys and other instruments may be used for research purposes. All collected data will be secure and any personally identifiable information will remain confidential. Participation in this program requires consent into the study, but you are permitted to withdrawal from the study at any time.)

Eligibility:

  • Research Development (RD) and Research Administration (RA) professionals in Florida with some experience providing one-on-one support to individual faculty members in their research or grant seeking endeavors. (Experience supporting research teams is not required.)
  • RD and RA professionals from Minority-Serving Institutions, Primarily Undergraduate Institutions, and other research-emerging institutions are especially encouraged to apply.
